The Tour Experience
The visit to the Piedra del Peñol is a key part of the Guatapé tour, but the climb itself is optional. The entrance fee is managed by the rock’s owners (not us) and costs approximately 35,000 COP. You must pay this in cash at the ticket booth if you choose to climb. If you prefer not to climb, you can enjoy the view and shops at the base!
It takes approximately 15–20 minutes to climb the 740 steps. The pace depends on your fitness level, but the breathtaking panoramic view of the Guatapé reservoir at the top is worth every step.
Our tours run year-round! Medellín and Guatapé have tropical weather. If it rains, we adjust the itinerary to focus on indoor activities in the colorful town of Guatapé, ensuring you still have an unforgettable experience.
Yes! Our Guatapé day trip is family-friendly. However, please note that the climb to the top of El Peñol Rock is physically demanding for very young children.

We typically aim to return to Medellín by late afternoon, allowing you to enjoy the evening in the city. Exact timing depends on traffic conditions.
Yes, you can bring a small backpack or a standard carry-on. Please inform us in advance if you plan to bring larger luggage so we can ensure there is enough space on the bus.
